Text to Slug Converter

A slug is the readable part of a URL — the my-blog-post in /my-blog-post. Getting it right matters, because changing it later means keeping a redirect alive forever.

Everything is lowercased, and any run of characters that is not a letter or a digit becomes one hyphen. No double hyphens, no trailing punctuation, nothing that needs escaping.
